AMPLIFY
AT NEW ZEALAND ACADEMY OF FINE ARTS

In an exciting series of "firsts", my work in this exhibition takes the form of a specially created video which will be combined with the works of over 30 international artists to create an installation at the New Zealand Academy of Fine Arts in Wellington. It will also be streamed on Instagram and YouTube.
This is my first venture into the Southern Hemisphere. This is also true for the organisers, ArtCan, who are celebrating 10 years of not-for-profit work to support artists across the world.

10 X 10 ARTCAN ANNIVERSARY EXHIBITION

ING DISCERNING EYE 2022
11-20 November (to 31 December online)
I am delighted to have been selected for this year's Discerning Eye. I am particularly looking forward to seeing my work in the Mall Galleries this year, after the disappointment of lockdown in 2020, which meant that I could only participate online.
This year's selectors are Alison Bevan, Gurinder Chadha, Kate Enters, Aindrea Emelife, David Ferry and Ansel Krut.
I am excited to find out which one of them chose my work and to see their curated shows-within-a-show!

Meanwhile, all the works can be viewed in person at Gallery Different, 14 Percy Street, London W1T 1DR.

BREATHING OUT

This promises to be a powerful new exhibition from ArtCan on the subject of Climate Change.
I am delighted to have had three separate works selected for this timely and important show. A glimpse of one is included in this poster, and I have added part of one of the other works, which is a triptych.
It is hosted in ArtCan's beautifully reconfigured virtual gallery, which has been specially adapted to this new show. The gallery is beautiful, the artworks are powerful and stimulating and there will be audio inputs, too.
The Private View till be online on 8 November from 6 til 7 pm. Booking is free via Eventbrite - search ArtCan Breathing Out. The exhibition will then be freely accessible online via the website www.artcan.org uk.

ROYAL ACADEMY SUMMER EXHIBITION 2022
21 JUNE - 21 AUGUST 2022
I am extremely honoured to have had my work selected by Grayson Parry, CBE RA, to hang in Gallery VIII in the Summer Exhibition.

This gallery is painted in a gloriously vibrant yellow, which brings energy and an urgent vibe to the room, which feels appropriate for this year's theme of 'Climate'.

It is also the perfect foil for all the blue works in the Gallery, including my cyanotype 'Aquarius'.

I am delighted to see my husband hanging so high and right in the middle of Gallery VIII.

ROYAL ACADEMY SUMMER EXHIBITION 2022
21 JUNE - 21 AUGUST 2022
In the words of the Royal Academy's own website:
"Run without interruption since 1769, the Summer Exhibition showcases art in all forms...by invited artists, Royal Academicians
and emerging talent."
It seems I must be one of these..
I am truly honoured to have had my work selected for this year's exhibition, on the theme of 'Climate'.

ENSEMBLE 01 - IN PARIS WITH ARTCAN
MAY - DECEMBER 2022
In one of my favourite cities in the world - who doesn't love Paris?

This is a group exhibition, by eight international artists, who were each invited to display works which address different aspects of food waste and food justice.

ARTIVISM IN|SIGHT
25 APRIL - 20 MAY
An innovative virtual exhibition dedicated entirely to sculptures which have their inspiration in activism/artivism and offer new insights beyond what is immediately apparent to the viewer.

Hosted online in ArtCan's virtual gallery, at www.artcan.org.uk and curated by Cath Stocker.

My piece, entitled 'D'ye Want More Ice With That?' addresses climate change and species loss. Made from unaltered bits of beach-salvaged flotsam, the tiny scrap of glass recalls the ongoing loss of the antarctic ice shelf, the dark side of the bird recalls the Great Auk, hunted to extinction in the last century, and the glass dome references both a museum case, which is the only place where some extinct species can now be seen, and a finite biosphere, as a reminder that there is no Planet B.

EYE OF THE BEHOLDER
28 March - 4 April 2022
I am delighted to be taking part in this group show with ArtCan, curated by Catherine Sweet.
The show is free to visit at 508 Gallery on the Kings Road, Chelsea, London.

The show title alludes to the maxim that beauty lies in the eye of the beholder and the exhibition offers the response of over thirty artists.
As usual, my work questions what we perceive to be beautiful, by creating an appealing seascape from environmental pollutants.

I am showing a triptych titled "Ocean of Plastic", made from an assortment of discarded waste plastic netting, a detail of which appears of this flyer, created by ArtCan.

WINTER BLUES

This is ArtCan's first group exhibition of 2022, hosted by Kingsgate Project Space in Kilburn, North West London.
It is beautifully curated by K V Duong, an ArtCan artist member, who was recently featured on Sky Arts' Landscape Artist of the Year programme.
The exhibition is staffed by the artists themselves, and I was particularly delighted to welcome Gita Joshi - art curator, author, editor and podcaster extraordinaire - as one of our visitors during one of my stints 'on duty'.
